These are a quick connect with a on off lever. They are very functional and well made.Some might prefer metal connects for the strength and while plastic might break when you yank a hose it is not easy to do and I have not experienced any breakage. In addition there is a very important tradeoff to why plastic is better.Back in the good old days, pretty much every company used a standard bass type for hose fittings. Not anymore and because there are so many different types of metal used for hoses and faucets connects the different types of metals have a very nasty tendency to actually fuse together due to the differing electrolysis characteristics of each metal type.
